Yulia Arakelyan (Portland), Kathryn Hightower (Seattle), and Kimberly Kaplan (NYC) met while Dance Majors at the University of Washington. The three budding artists had early success with their first dance projects together, and couldn’t bear to part when two graduated and moved to new cities. For the past three years, they have collaborated via videos, emails, blogs, and late night phone calls, to create dance that explores “barriers” in all their forms.

#8 nightime
It was late at night. It was a wind-down-candle-lit-exploration floor-time kind of diary. In the editing phase I played with the lighting and sound to create a mood and an atmosphere. I could have spent a lot more time on this but chose to submit it so that I could move on to the next diary post.

You certainly created a unique atmosphere. At times you were a baby floating in the womb, at other times you were a priestess carrying out a ritual.
