Yulia Arakelyan (Portland), Kathryn Hightower (Seattle), and Kimberly
Kaplan (NYC) met while Dance Majors at the University of Washington. The three budding artists had early success with their first dance projects together, and couldn’t bear to part when two graduated and moved to new cities. For the past three years, they have collaborated via videos, emails, blogs, and late
night phone calls, to create dance that explores “barriers” in all their forms.
I love seeing you dance on the floor. You seem so free! My favorite part was at the beginning of the second section when your hand repeated the same pattern over and over, across your back. Your hands are so expressive, and the cyclical way they were moving was entrancing. I wanted to see what you would do next!
