Yulia Arakelyan (Portland), Kathryn Hightower (Seattle), and Kimberly
Kaplan (NYC) met while Dance Majors at the University of Washington. The three budding artists had early success with their first dance projects together, and couldn’t bear to part when two graduated and moved to new cities. For the past three years, they have collaborated via videos, emails, blogs, and late
night phone calls, to create dance that explores “barriers” in all their forms.
I love to watch you dance, Kimberly. You have a special style that is somehow comforting to watch for its loveliness. I like the drama created by the few simple cuts, without crowding it with too much effects. A joyous, peaceful piece.
