Yulia Arakelyan (Portland), Kathryn Hightower (Seattle), and Kimberly
Kaplan (NYC) met while Dance Majors at the University of Washington. The three budding artists had early success with their first dance projects together, and couldn’t bear to part when two graduated and moved to new cities. For the past three years, they have collaborated via videos, emails, blogs, and late
night phone calls, to create dance that explores “barriers” in all their forms.
My second entry on the second of July. I like trying short explorations that may or may not feel complete, but I still force myself to put them out there.
I think we're going to find that as we continue our daily dance diary, some dances are going to be very short explorations: fragments, "incomplete". I'm also finding that I can't really plan a day ahead what dance I will do. It always turns out to be something different, in the moment.

@Yulia: I always get inspired in strange places and times. Not always in the moment that it is time to film.
